Right now, everyone is spending extra time on social media. We are also looking for ways to keep our lives as normal as possible! What better way to keep a little bit of normalcy than by using our social media challenges to bring positivity and good news.

In the midst of these uncertain times, I’ve done multiple activities to inform my community that I’m there for them. I’ve also encouraged the people around me to know it’s okay to still have fun because that’s the best way to keep moving forward!

Here are five ways to use social media to inspire others and create a positive space during COVID-19.

Get your community involved.

Catalyze your community for a specific cause. Start by picking one thing that you’re truly passionate about (helping women in need, donating to nurses or helping the elderly), then share about it on social media. Ask your audience to share about it, too! If you choose to collect donations, then this ripple effect will bring momentum quicker.

Share job opportunities.

You’re helping your community by providing them with resources on how to continue to make income, and you’re helping employers find quality workers! It’s a win-win for everyone.

Inspire good deeds.

A few things you can do on social media are pay-it-forward campaigns, share inspirational stories and give directly to your community. I decided to load an electronic Starbucks gift card up with money and share it directly into my Facebook page! The amount was posted up top, and every time someone in the community used it, they commented on the new amount. It was so much fun sharing a gift that had a continued lifespan.

Another idea is to say something positive and challenge others to share. Share a post or a story that encourages your community to tag someone. Leave them a compliment and continue the train. For every new person tagged, they have also to share a compliment and bring in someone else! Keep sharing the love.

Offer community.

We all want support right now, and having others to count on is key. You can create a virtual party to provide a safe, fun space. Dim the lights, throw on some makeup, put on an outfit that makes you feel confident and invite your girlfriends to a video chat! Have drinks, play online games and talk about something other than the pandemic. It will feel so good!

Give resources your audience needs now.

Pay attention to what your online community is asking about and what they frequently comment on. Now, flip those into ways to solve their problems. You can host a masterclass, give away a low-ticket offer for free, make a list of your go-to resources or create a guide for them. Use social media to push out whatever that one thing is that they’re asking for right now, and keep it simple. Don’t confuse them and scatter your exposure with multiple offers. If you focus on just one thing, the better it’ll do.

Social media was created to keep us social. When we’re told to stay distant, the one thing we can resort to is online platforms to get the connection we crave! So use it wisely. Build your community, offer them what they are craving and give them a place to just feel good. That’s what this is all about!

What kind of social media content leaves you inspired? How can you use your platforms to help others?
