I have loved a great many and a great depth
And I have lost as much as I loved, if not more
I picked up instead bad habits and excuses
A little chip on my shoulder on the good days
Ancient marble ruins on the bad
With nothing and nowhere to fill the space and time

But when the candles close their eyes on Christmas
And the world is calm and quiet, I begin to remember
To follow stars, seeking far and wide for truth, for life
To give gifts of great worth, however dusty or forgotten
I have no gold but I hold dear anxiety and fear
And tonight I let them go

A silent snow starts slow as I find my heart
Right where it should be, whispering
Here, here, here and
Enough, enough, enough
Twelve bells on Christmas
And all is well, and all is well.
