An illustration of a girl standing by a fence outside

Spring Cleaning

Time heals all wounds.

Is that true?

Perhaps we should say,

Time with a bit of effort—

Because we can let time pass by

And lounge in our sorrow and pain,

Unwelcome to healing,

Stagnant and settled.

But we have the choice—

To water the weeds

Or pull them up.

And if we get our hands a little dirty,

Beginning to clear

The overgrown brush of ache,

Then, slowly, in time

The ground becomes soft, fresh—

Ready for something new.
