Together they are the founders of www.amraandelma.com, their personal lifestyle blog, and www.clubfashionista.com, an invite-only blogging platform dedicated to high quality content.
Both are based in Manhattan, so we caught-up to get an inside scoop into their style secrets, including how to elevate your style while keeping it simple and polished.
Darling Magazine: What is one quick, budget-savvy way to update any old outfit? A certain accessory? Pair of shoes? Hairstyle? Etc.
Elma: Actually, I would recommend a good coat (or a blazer in the summer) to make any old outfit stand out and add some freshness. Also, to be budget-savvy, you can always fetch an “on-point” coat or blazer at Zara or H&M. For instance, I would update an all black outfit with a white tuxedo blazer that has a black satin and shawl lapel.
Amra: Pair of fun sunglasses – they can revitalize any look and make it look great. They also add a sense of mystery, glamour, and are incredibly well suited for hiding your eyes after a late night out or long days spent in the office. I also love the fact that they shield your eyes from the sun, and thus serve partially as sun and skin protectants.
DM: People tend to think that warmer clothes = frumpy & boring. What are some unique ideas to expressing your style even if you’re all bundled up?
Elma: I almost tend to think the opposite since warm clothes allow you to layer. One of my favorites that is easy to throw on and can make any outfit look chic is a longline sleeveless blazer. Another amazing fall and winter favorite: knits. Knits are extremely easy to wear over a white collared shirt to the office or with jeans over the weekend.
Amra: I love adding a hat to almost any look in fall and winter. I have tons of different ones, but my favorite would have to be classic fedoras in black and tan. I also love a beanie in winter, and they are great for covering up when you are not in mood to do your hair. Other essential fall/winter pieces include faux fur – it now comes in a variety of styles and colors, and I love how it makes any look instantly more glamorous.
DM: What closet item do you think most women tend to overlook the importance of the most?
Elma: Black drawstring pants — I am not sure how many women actually own them, but I have found them to be extremely useful and easy to combine, whether with stilettos at the office or with dress-up sneakers over the weekend. Also, a variety of tops are really easy to pair with black drawstring pants.
Amra: A great pair of casual (every day) shoes – I see many women either wear heels or unflattering running shoes while running errands. Today, we have so many options for extremely comfortable footwear that is also stylish and flattering. Loafers are a great substitute for running shoes and they are very comfortable. I also love fun ballet shoes or pointy flats; they can look great with a pair of jeans or pants.
DM: What closet item is on repeat for you, currently?
Elma: My Hogan sneakers. Hogan is an Italian brand that produces amazing sort of dress-up sneakers. They have a bit of a platform and always cool details. Did I mention they are super comfortable?
Amra: Moto jacket – I basically wear it with everything: button downs, dresses, sweaters, etc. It somehow makes any ensemble look effortlessly “cool.” I also love a great over the knee boot; I tend to wear it with both dresses and pants.
DM: What are you most excited about for the fall season?
Elma: I love the crispy cool mornings and cozying-up with a skim latte while I flip through the pages of a magazine before starting my workday.
Amra: Halloween – it is my favorite holiday. I love how it brings out individuality in people as they are free to experiment with their looks. I also love seeing creative and fun ensembles; I find that somehow everyone is more relaxed and humorous.

For me it’s all about a great winter coat. I’ve slowly built up a bank of gorgeous wool coats which are great to throw on over jeans and a jumper though a nightmare to store in my tiny home come summer! A great pair of leather ankle boots are also essential as is treating them with dubbin to withstand the wet weather.
