breast cancer support

October is widely recognized as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. According to the American Cancer Society, it’s estimated that there will be 246,660 new cases of invasive breast cancer and 40,450 breast cancer deaths in 2016. As women with a mission to go forth as catalysts for positive change, we keep our eyes peeled for fun, different ways in which we can boost progress and well-being. Breast cancer is a cause that deeply requires our attention. So, this month, we’re sharing some unique ways to support research for the disease.

1. Vibrant Support

For 6 years now, Aerie and American Eagle have partnered with Bright Pink, a non-profit organization dedicated to preventing breast and ovarian cancers and detecting them early. This year, until October 19th, Aerie is offering a Limited-Edition Bright Pink Sunnie Demi Bra. One hundred percent of the sales will be donated to the organization. American Eagle is also participating this year, and is featuring Limited-Edition Aerie Undie, Boxers and Boxer Briefs, whose entire proceeds will go to Bright Pink, as well. Extra undies are always needed, and dollars for research certainly are.

2. Active Support

New Balance has committed to donating 5% of the MSRP of each product sold from their Lace Up for the Cure® Collection to Susan G. Komen, with a guaranteed minimum donation of $500,000 each year. Initially known for their arch support, these kicks are an ideal and simple way to get you moving towards support for the cause.

3. Refined Support

Stella McCartney has designed her Gemma Relaxing lingerie range in neon pink to raise awareness around the disease. A percentage of the range’s profits worldwide will be donated to the Linda McCartney Centre in Liverpool, UK, assisting to fund a new Mammography suite there. McCartney’s hope is that this set will be an initial reminder for women to take care of their bodies as the get dressed, while enjoying wearing pieces that “[look] great, [fit] incredibly well, and [are] comfortable and stylish.”

4. Healthy Support

For each “Bikini Pink” water bottle S’well sells, they will donate 20% of the proceeds to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Really, this one is a no-brainer. Stay hydrated, reduce and reuse, and promote research.

5. Cool Support

GapFit and Gap Body have teamed with the Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation, “an organization dedicated to preventing and curing breast cancer in our lifetime,” this month. For every purchase of their coral colored, Coolmax® strappy sports bra, among other items in their Breast Cancer Research Foundation Collection, they have committed to donating 15% of the purchase price to the cause. Support starts with our bodies first.
