It’s that time again. Back to school, back to work, back to … another round of Darling High Fives.
In keeping with the spirit of the month — even though, yes, we know it’s not officially fall yet — the below companies have caught our eye for embodying that can-do, go-get-’em and reach-for-the-stars mentality that fall characteristically brings.
Kazoo Magazine
Kazoo is a quarterly magazine published for “ladies to be,” young girls aged 5-10, in order to encourage them to be “strong, smart, fierce and, above all, true to themselves.” It believes in the importance of speaking to girls at a young, incredibly important age and really takes seriously their transition to young adulthood. Check out a few of their sample pages and tell us you don’t want a copy for yourself!
Brandless™
Stocking up a dorm or new apartment? Brandless™ is about to become your new best friend. Recently launched in July, Brandless offers everything from cleaning supplies and beauty products to organic cheesy puffs and Earl Grey tea for … wait for it … only $3! They focus on “just what matters,” meaning you can shop according to values (think non-GMO, vegan, GF, etc.) the same you would at any big box retailer except without the BrandTax™ added on. A high five for you and your budget.
Fair Photo Agency
Based in Sweden, the Fair Photo Agency senses a shift in the world — the shift businesses, products and consumers are making to embrace sustainability — and it wants to help expedite that process. The agency’s mission is to connect like-minded photographers with sustainable brands so that their products can be viewed in the best possible light. Figuratively and literally.
The Letter Project
It’s not always easy to know how to give back. The Letter Project wants to change that. This Atlanta-based community connects women from around the world to write letters to other women or young girls who are going through a hard time. Whether problem big or small, long letter or short, the project is centered on the idea that snail mail + encouragement always = a worthwhile endeavor. More than 2,600 letters have already been sent to four continents, with over 800 writers. Find out more on Instagram: #ptloletterproject and @toloveourselves.
Goldie Blox
For the girl who “wants to be more than a princess,” meet Goldie Blox. Founder and CEO Debbie Sterling wants to “disrupt the pink aisle” by offering a range of toys, books, apps and videos that introduce girls to the joys of STEM and engineering. Kits both teach and entertain, ranging from showing how to construct a zipline or build a clubhouse, to even creating a full-on Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Excited to learn about brandless and also the fair photo agency, always on the lookout for companies and products with better ethics/practices to support!
I really like Brandless’ packaging. It’s kind of like Muji, one of my favourite brands that create beautiful, minimal aesthetics.
